Hi,
Open Clipart Library need help for translating few pages of explanation. Wikipedia use SVG cliparts from Open Clipart because it's totally free (like flags). Could you help us on the wiki of Open Clipart in your language ? Thank you. I'm registrered in french wikipedia as patricia.fidi.

Hi, I am user meta:user:Walter. I respectfully request this community to consider my following request; I write a newsletter about what is going on in the Wikimedia projects in all languages. It is my hope that every community, like the Polish language Wikipedia, has some people who read Wikizine. Then I can maybe receive some news from those readers about your project and in the other direction the can inform there community in your own language about the Wikimedia news possibly. I would like to ask this community to consider to include on some relavent pages a refference to Wikizine. Like a small banner or a textlink.

Pages where I think inclusion of a reference to Wikizine can fit are;

If a banner or link is placed on the correct page then maybe someone here will think about Wikizine and report some local news. The change of that will increase highly I suspect. I Need help about Zagrzeb article

It would be great if you or someone else would decide to make litte better article about croatian capital-Zagrzeb( cro.Zagreb) , since this one isn't that well. It has flaws, also lack in very important informations, such as of history, culture, attractions, education, economy, transportation, ... It is very poor in pictures presented-although it is beautifool city with numerous wonderfull sights... Since I don't know Polish language, although I have been in Poland once and had fall in love in Krakow and Warsaw, I sencerely ask if you could do the job.

On the end, on croatian Wiki there's very good article about Warsaw... It shoud be good example how should it be done.

Mazurka[edytuj | edytuj kod]

The article en:Mazurka says: "Polish: mazurek, named after Poland's Masovia district", and Mazur (taniec) seems to say the same: "Nazwa tańca pochodzi od regionu Mazowsze." Is that really true? Are there any sources for that? It seems to me that it rather sounds like "Mazury". SebastianHelm 06:15, 31 maja 2007 (CEST)

I don't know that exact etymology of this word but the Polish PWN encyclopedia [1] says the same thing, it's just a coincidence, Mazury and Mazowsze are two very different regions of Poland. Cheers, Roo72 Dyskusja 06:36, 31 maja 2007 (CEST)

"Mazurek" refers to a kind dance, there is also a cake known as "mazurek" (I find it too sweet but a lot of people seem to like it), there is also a bird called "mazurek". Mazurek the dance ("Mazurka") definitely comes from Masovia. But there is another word in Polish "Mazur" meaning a person who lives in Mazury ("Masuria"). As for "The people of the province [Mazovia] were called Mazurs" - maybe that's the same as with "Francja", "Frankonia" and "Frankfurt", which all come from the same people, Frankowie, although they're far apart. I really appreciate your interest in the election, and particular thank you who commit this election with their endorsements for candidates, as well candidates themselves.

However I feel sorry to say some of endorsements submitted by Polish community member don't meet the format we assign on m:Board elections/2007/Endorsements, that is:

  1. Anonymous ones either signed as anon or with a link to Polish Wikipedia: All endorsements are only accepted by meta registered users.
  2. Endorsements from a meta accounts but whose user page has no link to the wiki under which they meet the voting/endorsing criteria.
  3. And if there is a link from meta to here, the user page on this wiki lacks a link back to meta. In this case, since there is a doubt if the combination is authentic, this endorsement will be removed by Election Committee.

Again thank you for your interest, and I wish you endorse your favorite candidates so properly as to ensure the candidacy of those whom you support.

Wybory, poparcie dla kandydatów, potwierdzenie (tłumaczenie)[edytuj | edytuj kod]

Witam wszystkich wikipedystów i od razu przepraszam, że po angielsku - nie władam językiem polskim, będę wdzięczny za tłumaczenie.

Doceniam zainteresowanie odbywającymi się w chwili obecnej wyborami do Rady Powierniczej, w szczególności dziękując użytkownikom, którzy zdecydowali się na wyrażenie swojego poparcia dla niektórych kandydatów, jak też samym kandydatom.

Jednak z przykrością muszę stwierdzić, że niektóre z głosów poparcia udzielonych przez społecznosć polskich projektów Wikimedia nie spełniają narzuconych im standardów, opisanych na stronie m:Board elections/2007/Endorsements, w tym:

  1. Głosy anonimowe podpisane jako IP lub z linkiem do polskiej strony wikipedysty: każdy głos poparcia musi być oddany z konta użytkownika na Meta.
  2. Głosy poparcia podpisane prawidłową nazwą użytkownika, lecz których posiadacze nie umieścili na swoich stronach użytkownika linku do wiki, gdzie posiadają wkład dający im prawo głosowania nie spełniają kryteriów.
  3. Jeśli istnieje prawidłowy link do odpowiedniej strony użytkownika dokumentujący prawo do głosu, brakuje na niej zwrotnego linku do Meta. W takim przypadku, z uwagi na to, że istnieje podejrzenie, iż konto na Meta i w projekcie lokalnym może nie należeć do tej samej osoby, głos poparcia zostanie usunięty przez Komitet Elekcyjny.

Jeszcze raz dziękuję za wykazane wyborami zainteresowanie i zachęcam do wyrażenia poparcia dla wybranych przez Was kandydatów w opisany wyżej sposób, by zapewnić ważność Waszych głosów.

Witam, jestem nowicjuszem, chętnie edytowałbym wersję angielską, niemiecką i polską wikipedii. Czy były poczynione starania mające na celu wspólne wielojęzyczne artykuły ? Jeśli tak, jak pisać takie artykuły ? Czy był dyskutowany problem rozchodzenia się poszczególnych wersji ?

Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) and internationalisation (i18n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here on Wikipedia to use your language for your language profile, but if you would log in to for example the English language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here.

Droga społeczności, moim postem chciałbym przedstawić Wam specjalną wiki o nazwie Betawiki. Serwis ten wspomaga lokalizację (l10n) oraz internacjonalizację (i18n) interfejsu MediaWiki. Do tej pory, aby strony serwisu wyświetlały się prawidłowo według preferencji językowych, niezbędne było wprowadzanie zmian wielu komunikatów systemu, lecz logując się na przykład na angielskojęzycznym Wikisłowniku użytkownicy nie mieli możliwości korzystania z tak dobrze przetłumaczonego interfejsu, jak ma to miejsce tutaj.

Jeśli chcecie przyczynić się do lepszej obsługi języków narodowych w oprogramowaniu MediaWiki oraz jego wielu rozszerzeniach, zerknijcie na stronę Betawiki, stwórzcie konto użytkownika i poproście o uprawnienia dla tłumacza. the page http://www.wiki-net.pl/ seems to be a live-mirror. Even more its using the brand Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure that is not allowed for them. Hello. I am not a bureaucrat, but I think we have too many interwiki bots using the same solution (unmodified pywikipedia), which add only one link per edit making mess in history. We want to have only a couple bots running in automatic mode, 24h/day. The rest should be semiautomatic.
