The scan features the original design: note the (somewhat blurry still identifiable) logo of the H.C. Miner Litho Co. in the bottom right, a long-defunct lithography company whose logo is often found on American film posters of the 1920s and 1930s. Later reprints often omit this logo.
English: The full poster as scanned does not have a perceptible copyright notice; it's likely that the poster, as printed and distributed in 1931, did not carry a notice either. But regardless of whether the original poster had a notice, the copyright for the artwork was not renewed in 1958 or 1959 (see the sections for "Artwork: Original registrations and renewals" and refer to the links). Copyright lapsed at that time. Note that the poster is a distinct work from the film and had to be renewed in its own.

This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. For further explanation, see Commons:Hirtle chart and the copyright renewal logs. Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (70 years p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 years p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 years p.m.a.), Mexico (100 years p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 years p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
Zgodnie z oficjalnym oświadczeniem Wikimedia Foundation wierne reprodukcje dwuwymiarowych utworów z domeny publicznej są w domenie publicznej, zajmowanie przeciwnego stanowiska godzi w samą ideę domeny publicznej (więcej w: Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag). Niniejsza reprodukcja jest więc również własnością publiczną.
Użytkowanie tego dzieła może być zabronione lub ograniczane przez miejscowe prawo na obszarze jego jurysdykcji; patrz: Commons:Reuse of PD-Art photographs.
